Filling therapy
- Modern solutions for decayed teeth
Effective treatment of caries:
If a tooth has a “cavity”, the damaged tooth substance must be removed and replaced with an adequate filling material.
Stability & aesthetics
Experience modern filling therapies that are both stable and aesthetically pleasing.
Traditional and modern materials
Treatment with amalgam is fully covered by health insurance and guarantees a simple therapy. However, amalgam contains the heavy metal mercury, is unaesthetic and does not form an active, stabilising bond with the tooth. Amalgam is therefore no longer up to date. However, we still use this material in our practice as it is still the only filling material officially offered by health insurance companies. Substitute materials that are often offered, such as cements, cannot be an adequate alternative as they are highly porous, brittle and extremely limited in their durability.
Modern composite fillings
Composites, which are ceramic-reinforced plastics, are an excellent filling material due to their material properties. Using special layering techniques, outstanding aesthetic results can be achieved directly in the mouth. The original tooth shape is restored through individual modelling. Unlike amalgam, composites form an active adhesive bond with the tooth substance and stabilise the hollowed-out tooth. In addition, composites are biologically very well tolerated.
