Fear-free dental visits
With the right methods, you will forget about anxiety and become relaxed as never before.
Many people are afraid of the dentist and are very tense during treatment. We know that dental anxiety is common. 70% of all patients find the visit to the dentist unpleasant.
Relaxed treatment
We have good news! We offer you a modern and effective method to relax during the treatment with the nitrous oxide application. Nitrous oxide helps reduce fear, pain and perception of time. Also a possible gag reflex is strongly reduced.
What is nitrous oxide?
Known under the name of nitrous oxide or laughing gas, dinitrogen monoxide is a nonallergenic, non-irritating gas, which sooths the central nervous system.
The use of nitrous oxide is considered very safe thanks to modern medical technology. Nitrous oxide is one of the most frequently studied drugs and one of the most controllable approved sedatives.
The painlessness and calming effect was already discovered in the 19th century and has been used to the present day million times without any complications.
NB Jörgensen reported over 4 million nitrous oxide applications without serious incidents. (Jörgensen, N.B., Sedation, local and general anesthesia in dentistry. 2nd. ed. Philadelphia: Lea & Febiger, 1985)
With state-of-the-art technology and trained staff, this tested technology is used in our office.
How does nitrous oxide work?
Through a small nose mask, you inhale a mixture of oxygen and nitrous oxide. The specially selected dose makes sure that you feel relaxed, however at all times remain in contact with the dentist and are aware of your surroundings. Patients describe the experience as a feeling of warmth, a slight numbness to the tongue or mucous membranes, as well as a feeling of euphoria and ease or pleasant heaviness. Since nitrous oxide is not metabolised in the body, the effect subsides seconds after cutting off the flow of gas, making it possible for the patient to leave the dental office without escort. Globally, nitrous oxide treatments are carried out millions of times successfully and without complications. Nitrous oxide sedation is a standard particularly in the US and Canada.
