Sleep with breathing interruptions
- Sleep apnea

Sleep apnea can have serious health consequences:
This sleep disorder causes breathing pauses lasting longer than 10 seconds, which leads to a lack of oxygen supply throughout the bloodstream.

Health & Safety

Protect your health and improve your quality of life through targeted treatment of sleep apnea.

What is sleep apnea?

Sleep apnoea causes breathing to stop for longer than 10 seconds. The result is a lack of oxygen supply to the entire bloodstream, including the brain. Unnoticed, this triggers constantly recurring wake-up reactions. A restful deep sleep is not possible and performance during the day is considerably reduced.

Effects on health

Sleep apnoea can have serious consequences and endanger your health:

  • high blood pressure, cardiac arrhythmia, increased risk of heart attack
  • Increased risk of stroke
  • Dangerous microsleep when driving or at work
  • Depression and listlessness
  • Sexual dysfunction

In short: quality of life is reduced and life expectancy is lowered.

Treatment options

Disturbing snoring without apnea can be corrected with gentle and painless palate lifting using laser treatment. Mild to moderate sleep apnea can be treated with dental splints, similar to braces or a sports mouthguard. The two-part dental splints, made according to dental impressions, hold the lower jaw, tongue and soft palate in front during sleep. This keeps the pharynx wide open, stabilizes the slack throat muscles and supplies the lungs with enough air to saturate the blood with sufficient oxygen.

Using special connecting elements between the upper and lower jaw splint, these lower jaw protrusion splints can be adjusted so that the alarming wake-up reactions do not occur – and you and your partner can sleep more peacefully and restfully at night.
